Mr. Coffee DW13 12-Cup Switch Coffeemaker, Black

Great coffee maker!
I'm very happy with my purchase of my Mr. Coffee DW13 12-cup Switch Coffeemaker. I'm surprised at the negative reviews, I haven't had ANY of the problems others have had. I did purchase a Mr. Coffee gold-tone coffee filter to use instead of paper filters. I'm not a big coffee drinker and my expectations were very low and simple. I was going to go for the 4-cup since I'm the only coffee drinker in the house but I found that it's very convenient to have a bigger capacity when company is around. It's easy to use and I've had no water leakage at all, from any part of it. I'm not bothered by the sound of it brewing, I have yet to own a coffee maker that doesn't "gurgle" while it's heating and dispensing the water. The coffee dispensing stops immediately when I remove the carafe and I have had no problems with the carafe being problematic to pour. The lid on top is large...I simply pull the machine forward and out from under my cabinets when I need to open and close the top. For...

not bad for $15
I bought this for $15 at "wally world" It makes coffee my old sunbeam lasted about 2 years using it about 5 times a day. So this is a cost to own of $7.50 per year. I like simple appliance and am unwilling to spend $100 for a coffee maker. Use a glass tray or cookie tray underneath the coffee maker and dont worry about the drips. I am not sure what people expect in an appliance that costs the price of 2 cans of coffee but for me its fine....

Defective Product
Thought I would warn anyone considering this model. I had one for about 4-5 months before it starting "leaking" from somewhere and leaving a puddle of water under the machine. I eventually replaced it with two more of the exact same model and each time the machine caused a puddle right out of the box. It DID make a decent tasting cup of coffee if you used the proper ratio of coffee to water. However, there is obviously this troublesome defect inherent in the product.
P.S. I recommend the similar looking Sunbeam model BVSB-TGX20(23) which for less money gives you a programmable timer/brewer and auto shut-off. Plus it actually works properly!

Frigidaire Freezer Door Bin 240351601

Perfect replacement
I ordered Frigidaire bin 240351601 in hopes that it would fit my kenmore fridge. The last digit of the part number was different than mine. I installed this bin on the freezer side and it is a perfect replacement.

not amazons fault
this is the biggest SCAM - these are nearly 20 buck for about 9 cents worth of plastic. Frigidare should be ashamed of itself. I think i may just hijack the patent an mld my own. This was the chaepest place to get these and they are over priced by at least 10 buck (i needed two since the chepo originals broke).

Not a shelf
It is not a shelf. It has no bottom. You can't tell from the ONE picture they provide. It does fit the bottom three shelves, but not the top one. I'll just save it if one of the other ones break. Meanwhile, I will order another one. At least it arrived in good condition and in a reasonable amount of time. I will order from them.

Hamilton Beach 7-Quart Slow Cooker

Great crock pot!
I've had good success in using this slow-cooker. The features I like:

*The glass lid makes it easy to see how the food is doing without letting the heat escape.

*The crock itself is a nice black color and is easy to keep in the fridge if you want to prepare ingredients the night before or keep leftovers in the same pot.

*The keep warm setting is great for serving food, especially at a party

*The outside is a nice looking brushed silver

I've used this pot when I'm away from home and haven't had any problems. I always follow a recipe's directions for the length of time to cook my meals, and I haven't had any problems with burning. I've had it for 5 years now and it is still going strong.

My only complaint is that the rubber ring used to keep the lid on when traveling broke after three uses, which was too bad, because it was a nice feature. However, it's not something I use very often, so I consider this a minor drawback.

Basic and perfect
I purchased this to replace a fancier and more expensive Rival slow cooker which was completely worthless, overpriced and extremely poorly made.

This Hamilton Beach cooker is a perfect example of "less is more". Not a whole lot of bells and whistles, but unless you need much more than "high, low and keep warm", this is the perfect cooker for you.

Reliable heat, great 7 qt. capacity, attractive brushed (no fingerprints) exterior, and really nice "keep warm" feature is nice for buffet parties without drying out or overcooking the meal.

Awesome
This is my first slow cooker - i couldn't decide on the size since i live alone and wasnt sure if the 7qt would be too big. It is perfect i like to cook a lot of stuff and freeze food for later. It works great, looks greats and washes easily. I can believe how easy it is to cook with this - would definately recommend this to anyone looking to save time in the kitchen but not sacrafice the quality of home cooked foods.

Secura 4.2L/17-Cup 1700-Watt Stainless-Steel Triple-Basket Electric Deep Fryer, with Timer Free Extra Oil Filter

Deepfryer
It is one of the best for reasonable pricing! cook evenly with large basket and encluding 2 small basket for different use. You will not be disappointed when you use it. Thanks secura for good products.

A bargain with minimal design flaws.
The fryer is a great low price alternative to more expensive fryers out on the market. While it has one huge basket to cook a lot of food at once it also comes with two half size baskets for keeping separate foods that you are cooking, however do not think this actually keeps your food separate, because it does not, the two separate foods your are cooking drop down into the same oil. So you could not be cooking fish on one side, while cooking donuts on another side without causing your donuts to taste like fish.

The big flaws for me, is having to use the timer in order to have the fryer on and the fact that the cover is not on a hinge and is therefore not easy to move out of your way during use.

These two flaws are not at all deal breakers and I would recommend.

Update! Don't buy from this company!
Update 10/03/2013
We were so happy with this product until the product stopped working for us. We contacted the manufacturer before the warranty date, only to get the run around. We spoke with one lady who informed us that a replacement would be sent out to us. Well we spoke with many more Secura employees only to receive the run around. We did exactly what they asked us to do. Destroy the product take pictures of the destroyed product, send pictures, order number, address, email address, phone number. We did everything they asked us to do! Did we receive a replacement no! What we received was the run around. Every time we called, we were asked for the same information over and over, order number, address etc. Then we were told a manager would get back with us, did they no! Hamilton BeachStay or Go Digital Thermal Coffeemaker

Simple to use, tastes good, full carafe gets grinds
I was given this as a gift. I found reviews for it (either the model in all black or brushed aluminum) favorable. Some people rated it negatively because they failed to read any directions and didn't press the "PRESS TO POUR" button on the carafe. Instead they unscrewed the top off and said it spilled when pouring. RTFM You always have to look to see if bad reveiws are due to the user's mistakes and lack of knowledge of the reviewer. They often are.

The two most negative things is...

1. When making a full pot I almost always get a lot of grinds. The problem is that the filter cup fills too quickly and the water level goes over the height of the paper filter. I've tried to find a taller filter, but they seem to all be the same size. Usually I either do a single mug (three 6 oz. cup servings) or the full carafe(10 servings). I can't recall if I've tried 6 or 8 servings to see if grinds are an issue there.

2. the plastic travel mugs retain water between...

great in RV
We bought this to keep in our Motorhome. We had a certain department that we wanted a coffee maker for since it has a slide down cover and only a certain size would fit and this one fit perfectly. We tested it first to be sure it worked and that we would know how to pour it like the other reviewer had said, read the instructions. It even stayed warm for about 7 hours, not hot but warm. I tested the mugs that came with it and I didn't have any dribbling, not to say we never will be when I tried it there weren't any. I give it a thumbs up as it is what we were looking for.

Pwr+ 9.6v Ni-mh 2100mah Battery for Makita 9000 9033 193890-9 192696-2 632007-4

Does the job
I've had my Makita 6093D for 17 years and have used it only intermittently for home repairs. One of my two ancient batteries would no longer take a charge and I ordered this item, which arrived by mail in only three days. It charged up fine, was an exact fit, and worked fine putting two-inch screws through 3/4 inch plywood into brittle, 60-year old joists without pilot drilling. The new battery is quite a bit lighter than the old one, 11 oz vs 16 oz, but it is labelled 1.3 amp hour just like the OEM battery and I have no cause to doubt the truth of this. One peculiarity - this made-in-China battery is labelled (incorrectly) as nickel metal hydride, while the box is labelled (corectly) nickel-cadmium and there is a piece of paper in the box apologizing for the mislabeling on the battery itself.

Good Buy!
I'm very satisfied and feel that I made a good choice. Product arrived very quickly and performed well. I was a little apprehensive about how good a substitute it would be for the OEM battery that cost about twice as much. But it was exactly as described and virtually identical to the original.

Seems to work well - somewhat better than original
The original batteries for this driver / drill were Ni-Cad. They were less powerful, and after some years wouldn't hold a charge. These more powerful Ni-mh replacements seem to work really well. I don't remember this drill spinning so fast. :) The price for these is pretty good too. It remains to be seen how well they will work for a heavy job, and over time - so far, so good. The original charger seems to like these just fine. It does take longer to charge, which it should as these hold more energy.

Lasko #2535 52" Oscillating Pedestal Fan

pedestal fan
I bought this fan from Amazon and it is great! Easy to put up, incredibly quiet and very good airflow. I have heat issues and have always slept with a fan blowing on me, even in winter. The regular desk top fan that I have had for years finally wore out and I didn't have a handy surface to place it on anyway. This stands on its own, can be adjusted for height so I can put it anywhere near. On top of that it pushes so much air I have it on Low in order not to get too cold! And then the handy remote means I can adjust the fan speed if the temperature changes, without getting up or use one of the other function buttons.

Excellent Fan!
I purchased the last one of these in stock at a local hardware store and was very impressed with the amount of air it passes as well as it's quietness. I was searching for an additional fan on Amazon and saw the same one so ordered it and, other than being a different color, it's the same exact fan. This fan works great where space is a problem or where you need something quiet (like in our TV room). A plus is that it puts out a great amount of air and has a remote as well!

Great product
I love the fan. I does everything as advertised. The fan has more then enough air flow. My only compliant is that the remote is very directional. Because I am handicapped, sometimes it is hard to get the remote pointed directly at the fan.

Norton 614636855653 IB8 1-by-2-by-8-Inch Fine/Coarse India Combination Oilstone, Red

Excellent Stone
I've had a similar Norton stone for over 20 years, and it's still in service today (That one was made in USA. This one in Mexico). I bought this one to bring with me to Iraq, because the cook is always dulling the kitchen knives, and I like 'em sharp when I cook.

As the other reviewer said, if you know how to sharpen a knife properly, this is one of the best stones on the market.

I've tried just about every gimmick "sharpening system" on the market, and I still always go back to my two-sided Norton stone. A good butcher's steel is also a must have item. My dad was a butcher, and he taught me the art of sharpening knives. It takes practice and perseverance, but it really pays off when you get a quality edge on a good knife. Keep it touched up with the steel, and you'll seldom have to take the stone out of the drawer.

The best
Nobody else can touch the reliability of a Norton India stone. I use constantly as a tool and die maker and they always do the job, hold oil well, don't load up bad, and last. Also to clean stone if it does start to load up you can soak in oil or coat a piece of ground flat steel with oil and work the stone on it with little pressure for a bit. Great around the house and shop as well for sharpening knives, scissors, etc.

Great for keeping good knives really sharp
This is a great stone if you know how to sharpen knives correctly and never let your knives get really dull or badly nicked. I've had one in my kitchen for 30 years. The coarse side is just right for putting the edge back on. The fine side polishes it really sharp. The stone never seems to load up with filings, which stay suspended in the oil.

Black & Decker 4-Slice Toaster Oven, Silver

GOLD STANDARD IN TOASTERS!!!
This is the 5th or 6th B&D toaster we have had over the years and it is the best yet!!! The gold standard in toasters!!! Love the ease of operation, stainless steel construction and even toasting outcome...This toaster is a great fit on the counter and the low 1000 watt usage is a bonus!!!!

Nice toaster
Broils vegetables well, makes toast quickly, have owned it a week and used it heavily (10 times+) and like everything so far! Cord is obnoxiously short but other than that good solid product. Ticking noise doesn't bother me, I kind of like the reminder that something is toasting so I can keep an eye on it.

Smooth Transition
I was wary of this new model, having heard about the timer "feature" and the element not turning off when you open the door. I have gone through three Black and Decker toaster ovens, and I have been pleased with them. I do not find the new features annoying, as some do. I actually think it's good that the element doesn't turn off when you open the door, since one might accidentally turn the oven back on by closing the door, as happened occasionally in my house.

I find the stainless steel of this model quite attractive, and I am generally quite pleased with my purchase.

It seems like the whole bagels I heat up in this toaster oven don't warm up in the middle quite as much as I expect.

Electric Roaster Liners. 2 Per Pack

Ruined my roaster pan
Boo. Hiss. So much for convenience = not. These liners melted to the sides of my roaster pans (in two different roaster brand units) while I was trying to feed 28 people for thanksgiving. After effort to scrub the melted plastic off I later tried to burn (500 degrees for several hours) the residue to no avail. All I did was fill my home with toxic plastic smoke. Now I have to find replacement roaster pans. $$$. And doubt I can get replacements by next time I need roasters for Xmas party this Saturday. Beware!

no more soaking
I have been using the smaller bags for my crock pots for quite of while and I had not been able to find any bags for my larger roasters. I was so happy to find these larger ones on line. They work great. Just remember to put a little water in roaster first so the bag doesn't stick.

one melted to the pan
We used several of these at a mini fair one of the liners melted to the pan but the other five were used with no problem.

Whirlpool 279827 Dryer Drive Motor

Great motor for the price with outstanding service
The good news is that this is a great replacement for the motor in our Kenmore dryer at half the price for of an American made motor. This motor is made in China and the frame is less rugged than the American version. It also is slightly louder but well within the acceptable range especially if you have a door on your laundry room. (We always keep our door closed anyway.)

The bad news is that the first motor I received made such a loud noise that my wife thought it was the buzzer that sounds when your close are dry. When I reported this to the seller they sent me an RMA along with a UPS mailing label that did not include home pickup but the local UPS office was nearby so not big deal.

Installing the motor requires that the dryer drum be removed and that the impeller fan be removed from the motor shaft. Taking the impeller off the shaft presented a little problem because it is not obvious how it is attached. I waited until the new motor arrived and found...

Double check your models' numbers
Our dryer went and, after much research, discovered we needed a new motor. After having great luck with Amazon and finding awesome deals, I figured I'd order it here. When it arrived, one major telltale sign (that it wasn't the right one) didn't stick out right away so, in my excitement of having a working dryer, I ran downstairs to put it in. It didn't set right so it made it really hard to get the spring clamps back on. Then once I got it all back together and turned it on, there was an awful scraping sound. Upon investigation, the blower fan was now rubbing on the housing of the dryer vent. Ripped it apart again and compared it to the bad motor. Stood them on their ends and the new motor was a half-inch shorter pulley end to blower fan end of the shaft. On a repair forum, someone suggested maybe it was another motor and posted a pic and that's when everything clicked.

On the blower fan end of the motor shaft, the collar around the bearings is BLUE. The new one I...

Tremendously loud
Part arrived very quickly from supplier. No trouble there. Supplied motor was a perfect mechanical replacement for the motor in a 25 year-old Kenmore dryer. My old motor had no wiring harness or plug; all the wires were connected individually.

Had the usual trouble (read other reviews) getting the blower fan off. No need for it to be that tight, considering the fan and threads are made of plastic with a square mounting shaft. It is incredibly easy to round this shaft off, no matter how careful you are. Believe it or not, I had to finally use an air impact wrench on the front motor shaft to remove the fan.

Part came with two sets of wiring instructions...one larger and one smaller, apparently identical copies of each other. Followed the wiring instructions, would not start. Two frustrating hours later, examined both sets of instructions with a magnifying glass, and noted that they were completely identical, except for the placement of one wire!! Of course...

Genuine Eureka DCF-10 / DCF-14 Filter 62731 - 1 filter

different but it works
it fits and work in my vacuum theEureka Optima Lightweight ( the yellow one) though the DCF14 looks different from the DCF10 filter that came with the vacuum. the DCF14 is yellow and has no piece that fits down the pipe and its bigger. plus there are really no instructions on how to install it. but it is not that hard.
i've read several reviews and alot of people said they put a nylon over the filter so i bought some cheap kneehighs and tried it on this filter that keep the clogging down alot it stops the big stuff from getting in the fins of the filter so i dont have to wash it out like the DCF10 so far its works good. i bought two DCF14 thinking i would have to change them quickly like the DCF10 but its been about a month now and i'm still on the first one which i think has a lot to do with the nylon
hope this helps

Messy filters, having extra ones makes it easier to wash them
I really like my Optima lightweight vac - it is great for cleaning stairs and my area rugs. It is easy to maneuver , it is not too heavy, yet has very strong suction.

But I hate changing the filters - they are so messy. I have to do it outside on a non-windy day. So having a few spares really helps in several ways. I have used both DCF-10 and DCF-14 filter in my vacuum and they both fit well.

Cleaning these filters is very hard, dust gets stuck in the crevices. However, if I wash them with jet stream from the water hose, it is possible to get them relatively clean. So I what I do is take the vacuum outside, remove the filter, shake it out, and then use the jet to clean it. After the filter has been washed I leave it to dry for a while. In the meantime I put another filter in. So I can put away the vacuum before the filter dries out.

I found that the price on the on this product fluctuates between $10 and $15. There is a nice online tool that I use...

seems to do the job
we were worried that this might not be the correct filter, as the size and shape are a bit different than the DCF-10 that came with our vacuum. but it does indeed fit, and so far is filtering just fine.

Hoover SteamVac Brush Block - 5 Brushes Part # 48437022

Hoover SteamVac brush replacement
It was very easy to replace these brushes. We have been very happy with our SteamVac. We recently used it to clean the carpets in our daughter's new college apartment that had been RAVAGED by the previous tenants. I think this machine cleans on par with the rental units you get at the local supermarket. We have used ours so much that I thought it a good idea to replace the brushes which had become a bit worn

prepare to replace again and again
This is my second replacement of this brush since I bought the vac a year ago. ( Yes, I could have spent 30 dollars in gas to drive across the city to leave it at the warranty shop for 2 weeks. Or I could have had replacement brush shipped to my door for the same price in 2 days. You do the math on cost and aggravation.)

The brush is designed to break. The stem coming up from the brush (which can be seen from the top of vac through a clear plastic cover) is made of cheap plastic. Be assured it breaks--and will break again. (Actually, the entire steam vac has plastic moving and connecting parts instead of metal ones, assuring breakage!) But back to the brush review.

Although it pains me to say anything positive about this cheaply made brush and steam vac, here it is: 1. Brush is very easy to replace. 2. The brush does a very good job of cleaning--until it breaks. 3. Amazon sells it cheaper than the 30 dollar replacement I ordered from another online...

works well, but should be made of a stronger plastic
The brush is easy to replace. If hoover made it like their old vacuums, it wouldn't be made of plastic. I had to replace e my brush about a year (maybe 10 uses). Ze replacement held up over 1.5yrs so far.

Wusthof Asian Edge Knife Sharpener, Red

Perfect sharpener, just what I was looking for
This sharpener sharpens at 17 degrees, which is perfect for my Wusthof Classic Santoku and Wusthof Ikon knives. It can be used on other Japanese knives as well (though truthfully, you should be using a stone to sharpen your nice Japanese knives).

I guess you could call this the lazy man's sharpener, for those of us who don't have time to learn how to use a whetstone. It's cheaper, and more compact than a Spyderco 304, which I was also looking at (but can only be found on eBay these days, and costs twice as much). But it works well, and creates a sharp knife in just a few swipes.

Now my sharpening is complete. For my regular German knives, I sharpen every 6 months - 1 year with the Chef's Choice 120 (sharpens at ~ 25 degrees), and I steel everytime before use at about 22-25 degrees. For my remaining knives, Ikon, Santoku, I just use this Wusthof Asian Edge sharpener (using the fine ceramic) every so often, and the coarse ceramic at most 1x or 2x a year...

Great Sharpener
I purchased this santoku sharpener at Amazon and have been very satisfied with it's performance. It maintains the 16 degree angle required on all german-made santoku knives and most other similar asian knives. Routine honing with the finishing stage will maintain the ultra sharp edge of a new blade for a long time.

Have not used the course-stage sharpener because I do not allow the knife to become dull. However, a dull knife usually requires removal of metal to become sharp again, and I don't believe this sharpener removes metal. It is great for its intended purpose though, maintaining the near-new sharpness of a high quality santoku knife, and maintaining the 16 degree angle without scaring the edge when sharpening.

Highly recommended - easy sharpening
I highly recommend this sharpener - it does a better job on my Global, Wushoff and Calphalon knives than any other sharpener. Including Global's recommended Minosharp with the two wet sharpening wheels, which does just an ok job in comparison.

It performs excellently on straight blades - you need to curve the knife a little for best effect if the knife's blade is curved near the top.

I think it loses some of its effectiveness after about 6 months of moderate to heavy use, but at this price I think it's well worth getting a new one if you spent on premium kitchen knives.

Also, it is impossible to cosmetically scratch your knives with this sharpener - it will touch the blade an nothing else...

Miele SFD 20 560mm Extended Flexible Crevice Tool

Why didn't I buy this a long time ago?
This is one of the most useful Miele accessories. I own a Capricorn S5981 and while this vacuum came with two floor brushes as well as small attachments for detail jobs, I often found myself trying to get into small narrow spaces and failing. The small tool that is an on-board accessory and looks much like the 22" crevice tool (except that it is not flexible and much shorter) always turns out to be too short and too rigid to successfully reach into areas such as between the wall and the washing machine or other places where furniture placement restricts access to corners, etc.

The flexible crevice tool is the answer to this problem and in the short time I have owned it, I've already used it many times. It is long enough to really get into those dust and dirt-collecting spaces and bends easily around corners without blocking the airflow through the tool. This has quickly become my favorite Miele tool and I couldn't be happier.

Awesomely useful, unique bendy tool!
This is inspired design! Very long and also made of a soft, thick, flexible plastic in the middle, so it can bend and twist to reach behind and under all kinds of furniture and appliances. I've never seen such a tool for any other appliance brands. Miele rocks!

miele crevice tool
Great tool for cleaning those tight areas in the car. You know between the seat and middle console. Also, between the seat and door.

Allersearch X-Mite Carpet Cleaner (1lb)

I think it helped
This was one of many measures I took to avoid dust mites after being diagnosed with a severe allergy which was the cause of multiple illnesses and chronic cough/asthma. It comes out of the bag in clumps but as per the instructions you are to brush it in with a carpet brush (I just rolled the unplugged vaccum over it since I didn't have a brush). I let it sit for 3 hours and the vaccumed it up. I found the smell was kinda chemically when applied but by the end of the 3 hours there was no smell in the room at all. It vaccumed right up and I had no stains from the product. My allergies have vastly impproved since I have use this product in conjunction with full bedding encasements, weekly hot water bedding laundry with anti mite additive and rigorous dusting and vacuuming and an air purifier. I found just shaking the bag side to side did disperse fairly evenly, especially after "Brushing" in. I can probably get 3 applications out of the bag for a fairly large master bedroom.

Great Product!
I was waging war on allergens in our home. With three large dogs in and out of the house, and people with allergies, I had to try something. I first put this on the carpets in our family room, our bedroom, and one of our daughter's room. She came home to visit and usually starts coughing, but this time, had no problems! I'l sold on it.

Love This Product
This has proven very effective for killing mites. I used it on my bedroom carpet and allergy symptoms have improved since.

Preethi Eco Plus Mixer Grinder

Selling Used Mixer, DO NOT buy (updated)
After 8 months to date, Great Elect has sent me an email stating that they will offer me a free mixer if I remove this review. Their email quote "We would like all of our customers that have received mixers in bad condition to reconsider there thoughts on Preethi." which basically means there are bunch of other customers they have shipped this used mixer and now offering free mixer to get the reviews removed.

I responded back to them that I dont care for their mixer and would rather leave the feedback as is. They came back again stating that they will make it "worth while" if I modify the review to say how good their customer service is
1. They care for those of us who bought only because we have left them bad reviews
2. They have quoted that Preethi as a company had shipped them these used/refurbished & uncleaned jars. Now they have resolved the packaging issues it seems.
You would be better off begging someone to bring some mixer from India rather then...

HoMedics UHE-CM15 Personal Ultrasonic Humidifier

Very fussy little thing
It's very small and uses a wick. The first one I bought stopped working after a couple of days for no apparent reason. Had to return. The replacement continues to work, but works best when completely filled to keep the wick wet. If it isn't used every day and is allowed to empty, the wick has to be taken out and soaked again to get it going. There's no control for how much mist you get, only on/off. It is big enough to run for about twelve hours.

nice mist. does not last 10 hours.
bought this from a local store. it blows a nice mist that I like but the box said it runs 10 hours. pamplet inside says not to leave house for 6 hours with it running. we slept six to seven hours and it was completely dry.

short and sweet
Just what I wanted...a personal humidifier on my BR nightstand. I used Brita-filtered water. No fuss in cleaning and noiseless.

Homedics Personal Cool Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier, White

Excellent Little Humidifier
I suffer from dry sore eyes as well as dry skin during the winter as a result of dry heated air. Although I have a whole house humidifier, my eyes still become dry and sore during the night. This little humidifier provides just the additional moisture needed next to my bed at night to prevent my eye problem. It is totally silent in operation and in spite of an advertised 4 hour run time, my experience has been that it runs 8-9 hours if I start with it a bit above the fill line (almost to the top of the fill cup). I use distilled water which I would recommend to avoid scale problems and greatly prolong filter life. Also, with distilled water, no additives are needed. You can purchase distilled water in most grocery stores and since it uses so little, the humidifier will be economical to run. But if you use a de-humidifier in the summer, you can bottle some of its recovered water and get distilled water for free. This is a great product as long as you don't expect it to humidify a large...

Nice idea for cubicles!
This is a cute little humidifier that can be plugged into an outlet or in your computer's USB port. That's what attracted me to it, because the air gets so dry in winter in my office I can put this close to me while I am working. I could feel a difference when it was on in a small space. It's very easy to use, just soak the small wick a couple minutes in water before use and you're ready to go. It comes with two extra wicks and adapters for your computer and outlet which is very nice. The only complaint is there is no auto off when it's out of water, so you have to be vigilant. It says you get about 4 hours of use from a full reservoir of water. It's only about 4 inches wide so it doesn't get in the way on my desk. So far I really like this innovative product. I don't think I've seen another one just like it anywhere. I would recommend it for office workers or students who are affected by dry heated air in winter.

It's okay for what it is
This unit works, but that's about the best I can say. It is simple and cheap and does put out a small stream of vapor. Don't expect output like a larger unit, but if it is blowing right at you it would be noticeable. Word of warning - I ran it out of water overnight and it self-destructed. It burned up and was not repairable. They warn that it does not have low water protection but I didn't realize it would destroy it. So don't run it out of water.

Household Essentials Standard 1-Piece Ironing Board Cover and Pad, Cats and Dogs

Great Cover
I rarely write reviews on Amazon because they can be seen publicly and I don't like advertising all the nonsense things I buy! in this case I will make an exception because this was a practical and wise purchase. It seems that everyone that uses an ironing board waits too long to change the cover. I think it has been 10 years since I actually changed the thing. What a joy! The new cover has great padding, was easy to get on the board and created a really smooth surface to iron on.

cute and durable
This is a great ironing board cover. It fits perfectly on my board and it's very well made. I love the "pocket" on the back side, which I store a spray bottle in.

Cute at a great price too
Most covers were way more expensive. This had a cute print, I mean it is not like I'm wearing it out in public. Fit my board and is holding up. I like it.

Nostalgia Electrics RSM702 Retro Series Single Snow Cone Maker

Fantastic SNOW machine ...

You Guys Are Crazy - This Is Awesome!
I have had this snow cone make for a year and I had to post a review after seeing the negative ones. This thing has made at least 200 snow cones over the past year and still works like it is brand new. We use it at all parties and even make some "adult" frozen drinks with it - for $30 i paid - I more than got my moneys worth - I'm gonna go make one right now!

Snow Cone Maker
Excellent product, easy to use. My niece loved it. Although she cut her hands washing the blades, so maybe an adult should do that and not a 12 year old. But it's a great item!

Keurig® Mini Plus Personal Coffee Brewer -Purple

Not actually that mini...
So I'm a graduate student with little time to sleep and/or eat, and on a budget. Verdict: this Keuring Mini is a the best investment I've made potentially ever.

Pros: Compact. It sits neatly on my desk next to my computer. When I'm deep in some integral, or working on a homework assignment, it's super nice that I can just reach over and make a 2pm pick-me-up in about two minutes. Also, it makes a fairly decent cup of coffee. I have a very fancy Cuisinart ordeal at my home that makes better coffee, but the Keurig coffee has never been too weak or gritty or anything of the sort. Just a standard cup of Joe. It's super quick and makes a very hot cup of coffee, which I really enjoy. I currently buy Green mountain Breakfast blend and it is very good, very dark. I've also made tea in it (A Twinings sample pack), and it was also quite good! Also, the color is cute (if you care about that sort of thing).

Cons: The Keurig feels a bit plasticy--I realize it's part of the...

Love it
I especially like the fact that I can take the drip tray out and use a bigger cup!! I love the purple color too.

Keurig--Yes
I have used a Keurig brewers for years. This one I have added to my collection for travel. I love it, it works great and I took it on my trip and outstanding.

Breville BDC550XL The YouBrew Glass Drip Coffee Maker

Expensive but worth it.
I first started looking into expensive coffee makers when my wife said she wanted something more convenient. We had been using the Bodum Bistro Electric Burr Coffee Grinder, Black, the Cuisinart CPK-17 PerfecTemp 1.7-Liter Stainless Steel Cordless Electric Kettle and the Chemex Coffee Maker 8 Cup Classic to make our coffee. I can't say enough good about that combination of products and the quality of coffee it consistently produced, but it had its negatives, too.

We were timing up the usage of 3 different devices, it was a bit of a chemistry experiment to get the coffee/water ratio just right, there's definitely a (slightly difficult) technique when doing a pour-over method, and it required us to be standing there during the entire 15 minute-or-so process...

Coffee The Way You Want It -- But Pricey!
The Breville YouBrew Glass Coffee Machine With Built-In Grinder is a very good coffee maker that enables you to be the master of your domain when it comes to easily and consistently making coffee just the way you like it. But being able to do so won't come cheaply. The retail/list price for this machine is $379.99, with the lowest internet price currently being $249.99.

You'll have to decide if spending that price is worth it to you in order to be in full control of your coffee. To be honest, while I like this benefit, I doubt if I would have spent $249.99 for it. Luckily, I received it for free from the Amazon Vine program.

The benefits of the BCM 550XL are many, including but not limited to:

...its Brew IQ System, which claims to automatically ensure that water is heated to the optimal temperature, then supplies, based on the settings you quickly and easily select, the correct amount for your selected brew size and strength. (More about this claim a...

My wife says it is the best cup of coffee she has had.
I was interested in seeing if this pot would make coffee better than our cheap Wal-Mart coffee maker. In short, yes. Now I am not a coffee lover. For me it needs to be mixed in ice cream to be drinkable. But, my wife loves her cup of coffee, so I thought she would be the perfect tester. After setting it up she brewed herself a cup using a generic bean bought at Wal-Mart. Afterwords, she said that it brewed a better cup than you could get at Starbucks. I was definitely impressed.

Getting started took a little bit of time and can be intimidating. Trying to figure out the settings took a few tries. Make sure the first time you try to use it is not at 6 AM as you are trying to rush off to work.

With the choice of flavor settings and strength settings this will brew a cup of coffee to fit everyone's desires. I have read some of the other reviews and while it is true that you can adjust flavor and strength manually in any coffee maker; that will take a lot of...

Nespresso Pixie Espresso Maker With Aeroccino Plus Milk Frother, Electric Titan

Smaller and portable: Pixie is a superb Nespresso machine!
The Pixie has got to be the smallest and most portable single-serve coffee machine on the market. It has so much going for it! Like other Nespresso machines, this Pixie produces a top-notch coffee product. This particular model offers a milk frother alongside the coffee maker--and that is a real plus. The two together cost less than if purchased separately.

All things considered: The Pixie works every bit as well as the older and larger (but not much larger) CitiZ and the newest "kid on the block", the Nespresso U. The Pixie has a smaller water well. It also has a smaller compartment for spent capsules. In my experience that does not matter. In fact, it's probably better. You should start with fresh water as often as possible and it's easy and quick to dump spent capsules.

I think the whole line of Nespresso machines are far better than Tassimo and Kuerig machines. The Nespresso machines are better designed: They work quicker and quieter; have a...

Face-off: Rancilio Silvia vs. Nespresso Pixie
Face-off: Rancilio Silvia vs. Nespresso Pixie

OVERVIEW: As a long-time coffee snob I couldn't miss the chance to smackdown these upstart espresso wannabees. Well, more fool me. I was no match for the charms of little miss Pixie; this cheeky wench promptly staked a claim on my valuable counter space, right under the wings of old matron Silvia.

BACKGROUND: I've had a Rancilio Silvia V1 for over a decade. Years ago I made the popular PID modification: a computerized thermostat for superior temperature control. I've replaced the boiler, twice, and the steam valve. I've upgraded its over-pressure valve and tuned it for optimum steam pressure. I don't just grind my own beans, I buy fair-trade single-origin 20 pound bulk bags and roast to perfection on a homemade roaster. I make at least four lattes a day, and grind through a pound of coffee a week. To be sure, the PID'ed Silvia is hardly the Rolls Royce of espresso machines, but it is the Toyota Camry: a tried and true...

The Perfect Cup
Having a cup of coffee has been part of my daily routine for decades now, and for the past few years I've been making that cup of coffee with a Keurig machine. After using the Nespresso Pixie Espresso Maker and Aeroccino Plus Milk Frother for about a month, I can definitely say that the Pixie espresso maker will officially replace the Keurig.

This is my first Nespresso product, and first espresso maker for that matter, so I was expecting something similar to my Keurig machine. When I received the Pixie, I was pleasantly surprised at the difference. I found the Pixie to be much smaller and more stylish than my Keurig machine. Even though it's smaller, the Pixie feels much sturdier, too. The espresso maker and milk frother package also includes 16 sample capsules of various flavors, which are all very good. The espresso the Pixie makes far exceeds what the Keurig can brew and rivals any espresso I've had at the various coffee shops here. Although the cup of espresso...

Replacement Battery for iRobot Scooba 5900 5800 APS 3500mAH

Beware of Metapo
My Metapo Scooba battery performed well until two weeks before the warranty expired, when it died. I contacted Metapo by phone and they were VERY reluctant to take any action. First they indicated that I should wait two weeks and file a claim under the extended warranty that I had purchased. I said no, I had already contacted the extended warranty company and they said that it was Metapo's responsibility. Then Metapo argued about the actual length of the warranty. Finally they wanted copies of my purchase receipt and original warranty. I immediately emailed these documents to them. A month has passed and I've never heard from them again. If you buy the battery, you can expect to have to buy another one when it quits because if my experience is any indication of the integrity of this company, there will be no manufacturer support for any problems that you may have.

Great Substitute
We have owned our Scooba for three years and absolutely love our Scooba. Even though I love my Scooba I hate the battery because of its short life and how expensive it is to replace. I have ordered several replacement batteries from iRobot but had gotten frustrated with the amount of money we were spending on replacement batteries. I decided to take a chance on this replacement battery and I have been very happy that I did. The battery is only a fraction of the cost of the battery sold by iRobot but seems to work at least as well and maybe better. I have had the battery for almost 5 months and it is still working great.

One issue that I have seen raised related to this battery which I think may be in error is related to its larger size which allegedly causes Scooba to not seal properly causing Scooba to not suck up the water from the floor. After I got this battery I thought I was having this issue because my Scooba was not sucking up water from the floor. I measured...

Bait and switch
After complete disillusionment with OEM iRobot scooba batteries that never last a year, I decided to try one of the off brands on Amazon. Bought a Tenergy battery, and it lasted all of two recharges until it would no longer charge. Returned for refund. More internet research found that Metapo was well a regarded manufacturer, so back to Amazon I went and bought this one. Battery arrived today and lo and behold, it is a TENERGY battery. The exact same brand that I just returned a week ago despite being described on Amazon as a Metapo!

I haven't used the new battery enough to determine if it will be any better than the last, but it already has 2 1/2 strikes against it:
Strike 1: Bait and switch on the brand name
Strike 2: Like the previous one, it will not charge on the scooba external charger. It charges for about 5 minutes and then starts blinking the charge error code. The previous Tenergy better did the exact same thing.
Strike 2 1/2: The "instructions"...

Holmes HCH4051 Compact Ceramic 1500 Watts Heater with Thermostat

Compact But Powerful
I've had this Holmes heater for over 5 years. I rely on it during winter months for heating my master bedroom, which measures about 13' x 15'.

As with a lot of heaters, this unit may give off an offensive smell initially - If you run it for a few hours in a well ventilated area, the smell should gradually diminish and eventually cease.

The heater has 2 heat settings. Amazingly, it's able to heat up my entire bedroom at the high setting. I don't have the manual anymore, but if my memory serves me, the lower setting is 750 W and the higher setting is 1500 W. The lower setting is ideal for for providing you with localized warmth where you need it most. Although the fan isn't very strong, it does an adequate job of dispersing the heat. In freezing temperatures, it takes the unit anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour to warm up an average-sized room.

The thermostat is somewhat fickle and doesn't regulate the temperature very consistently -- that's to be...

Good Value, Good Little Heater
I bought this heater from a local hardware store and have been very happy with it even as I unpacked it and found that it was packed with recyclable pressed paper inserts instead of nasty ol' Styrofoam. The heater works wonderfully and even on the lowest setting in my old, drafty house keeps me quite toasty as I work at my desk. I like that it is very small and easily portable and will pack up and store quite nicely in the warmer months. It puts out as much heat as my big ol' "Milk barn" heater and seems to be more stable... tho the milk barn heater will shut off if it tips and this Holmes model will not... which is the only thing I don't particularly like about the unit... but it sits low and quite stable so hopefully that will never be a problem.

excellent
I bought this heater for use at my office (under my desk) because it is usually freezing there. This little heater has saved my life. I no longer have to wear a coat while at work. My coworkers have even asked where I got it because they're freezing too and want to get one.

It has 2 dials: one for selecting fan (with no heat), fan (with heat), and stronger fan (with heat); the other dial is for controlling the temperature. I usually set the first dial on fan with heat, and the temperature dial between the first and second mark (it has 5), and that is more than enough for heating my whole cubicle.

The Sephra 16-Inch Stainless Steel 4-Pound Capactiy Select Home Fondue Fountain

Hit of the Party & Very Quiet
It was worth paying $20 more to get the Sephra name brand. I read reviews of other $40-50 chocolate fountains, and they all said how noisy they were. I paid $70 & got free shipping through Amazon. This unit is very quiet, and some people couldn't even tell there was a noise. It worked perfectly!!

Chocolate Fountain
I purchased this product for my daughtgers birthday party, it was just perfect,it works right away, its the right size. and its very easy to clean,I had no problems with it. Id Fully recomend this product to everyone else.

Sephra "Select" Chocolate fountain
Great product, excelent performance, quiet motor, you don't waste too many product as in any another bigger chocolate fountains, I use it also with chamoy and works just great, you can have it turned on by 2-3 hours consecutives with no problem at all, easy to clean and assembly, the only inconvinient is that you can not remove the basin to clean it, so have to be very careful when washing it but no big deal.

Generic Dyson DC17 Washable Pre-Filter Assembly 911236-01

Wrong Filter
I had initially ordered this product based on the picture because my present filter looks exactly like it but when the actual filter arrived it was the wrong one. It did not have the (6 and the tap)on it like the picture, it was white and much larger. However I returned it and made sure to place my next order based on my vacuum's product number. Eventually the correct filter was mailed to me, Filter Part #911685-01. Filter #911685-01 is exactly like the picture, therefore I wish that they would put the correct picture for corresponding filter because that picture DOES NOT accurately represent Filter Part #911236-01.

Don't do it!
This is not an official Dyson filter therefore it doesn't fit the chamber. We had to force it to close and then when we did get it closed it barely worked. I regret trying to go cheap, buy the real one. It's worth it.

Dyson DC-17 Washable Filter
It's a shame that Dyson doesn't include a spare filter with the purchase of a vacuum. The filter is washable but who realizes their filter needs washed until they are using the vacuum. Since you have to allow ample time for the filter to dry you really need to have 2 filters. A new, clean filter allows your machine to vacuum just like new.

Hamilton Beach 76607 Smooth Touch Can Opener, Black and Chrome

Can opener works well but does not shut off automatically
The can opener works well and leaves no sharp edges. It is attractive and easy to use. However, it does not shut off automatically as claimed in Amazon's description. Even the owner's manual says it does not shut off automatically. Had I known this, I would have purchased the 76606 model and saved $10 since I don't need another pair of scissors, the only difference between the two models as far as I can tell.

great product for opening cans safely
The Hamilton Beach opener works fine. The only thing is sometimes you have to run the opener long enough to cycle the can around more than once to properly separate the top from the can. However, once the top is separated the top and the can have no sharp edges whatsoever. The process of inserting the can in the opener is very easy and once inserted the opening is hands free except for holding down the power lever. Once the opening is accomplished the can is easily removed. This is a great can opener and I hope it has a long service life.

Outstanding!
This can opener is GREAT. I hate spending time trying to find just the right place to align the can with the opener; especially in the AM when I'm barely awake trying to open a can of tuna for the cats, digging my fingers into the yuk fishing for the craggy lid. This can opener has changed my life, so to speak, because it's smooth, there's no fiddling with cans, you just push that sucker up to the opener and zoom, it's clean, its' smooth and it's open. Buy this can opener and it will be the last can opener you ever buy.

Chef's Choice 300 Diamond Hone Knife Sharpener, White

Excellent Value
I have Chicago Cutlery knives. First I used the Steel that came with the knives. After about 3 years, the knives would not sharpen very well.

Then I got a "set" that used 4 ceramic rods to sharpen the knives. They did a very good job, but it was a LOT of work.

After using that set for about 5 years, I tried a real "cheapy" electric sharpener and returned it after one use. It just did not sharpen. -- Back to the rods.

I finally decided to give the 300W a try. It works just great. The knives get much sharper than any other method I have tried and they stay sharp much longer. For my purposes, this is an excellent sharpener.

Smart Buy!
I don't normally write reviews, but this time I will as I think it might help others who have been searching for a decent and reasonably-priced sharpener. Four months ago I had about 14 utility and steak knives sharpened by an upscale store in Santa Monica. The price? $35.00. Now, I got the 300W for $34.88 all in. I sharpened the knives according to the instructions, and they came out sharper than the "professional" store job!

Less than I expected for the price
Granted, this isn't the most expensive thing in the world, but I was looking for better results more quickly than I could achieve with a manual sharpener. As the company's website claims you can have sharper than new edges, I decided to put that boast to the test with my set of brand new Henckels. Not only was the process tedious and quite demanding of technique, but I never got edges as good as factory (which were, admittedly, near razor sharp to begin with.)

The magnetic guides work OK close to the bolster, but as the blade narrows and your hand is farther from the guide, it becomes very difficult to maintain alignment. On curved blades, you have to bring the handle up carefully during the stroke while unable to see the exact portion of the blade you are sharpening. It must be done by sound and not sight. Also, while inserting the blade into the sharpener, care must be taken for exact alignment or the diamonds will grab and kick out the blade somewhat. I never detected...

Waste King A1SPC Knight Garbage Disposal

This thing is impressive
When I first told my husband I got a garbage disposable and it's on its way his response was "why? Its not like we need it. "

However when it arrived to say that he was impressed was an under statement. He used to do maintenence for an apartment complex and still does it on the side for multiple rental agencies. As soon as the package was opened it was " wow this is nice I can tell".

So he went ahead and installed it, which was quick and easy. I like to put alot of food down the disposal and our old one would get plugged and stuck. This one is amazing! Super quiet and our old one wasn't that loud. So far I've put food stuffs down it that I probably shouldn't and this thing handled it like a champ.

Such food includes beans, oatmeal, noodles, chunks of potatoes(with peel) celery, half of an apple, even a banana peel. As well as some chunks of bad meat from the fridge.

I'd have to say its a worthy investment for any home owner, and even...

The daily grind WINNER!
Very nice product. Well worth the investment. Keep in mind the installation materials is going to run you another 70.00 plus 2 hours of labor to install it. Works great love it!

The Cadilliac of Garbage Disposals
I have never had a garbage disposal in my home before but after seeing and experiencing how useful they were in the sinks at work I have wanted one for a long time. At the office we have InSinkErator Badger 5 1/2 HP Food Waste Disposer installed under all our sinks. When turned on the first thing you notice is the extremely loud noise and then the vibration of the sink. The noise and vibration are non-existent with the Waste King A1SPC.

The Waste King is taller and about 2-3 times larger than the InSinkErators but is quiet as a mouse and doesn't vibrate the sink at all. It's also a beauty to look at. I kinda hated to hide it under the sink.

If you have shelves under you kitchen sink you will need to measure and make sure this is not to tall. I didn't have shelves underneath my sink and that wasn't a problem. It's also a little on the heavy side so you may need some help to hold it...

BISSELL Pet Hair Eraser, Refined Bronze/Magenta, 94V5A

The Dustbuster Has Evolved... sort of...
It's been many years since I've owned a Dustbuster type of handheld vacuum, largely because every one I've used had limited battery life, and wasn't good at picking up all but the lightest debris.

I thought I'd give the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser a shot, hoping that the handheld technology has evolved, and that something -- anything -- could make living with a Shepherd and Pointer easier.

Out of the box, I immediately noticed how the pink rubber tip on the end of the vacuum looked and felt a lot like the brush I use on my short-haired Pointer. Holding back the urge to vacuum my dog, I decided to read the instructions, telling me I needed to put it on the charger for 18 hours before I vacuumed anything. Dutifully, I put it on the charger, but noted that the design of the charger base REALLY expects you to mount it to a wall. I wasn't sure I was ready for that sort of commitment, but it worked...

This? Is AWESOME!
If you are a pet owner, you need the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser...no doubt about it. I own one of the Dyson animal vacuums, which is great, but even the many attachments don't do a good job of getting cat hair off the furniture. I usually have to go over my couch with one of those lint rollers, which is a huge pain and still doesn't work all that well.

Enter the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser. I don't know what it is about this thing, but WOW, does it work! I was amazed (and somewhat disgusted) by the amount of cat hair it sucked off my couch in the first few seconds alone. In fact, I believe that if I turned this hand vac on and pointed it directly at my cat, it would suck her up whole. It really is that good. The cordless feature and easy cleaning mechanisms make this an even more valuable product. I highly recommend this to all pet owners who would like their furniture to be fur-free!

Standard hand vac
This little vacuum is fine, but I find it to be nothing special when it comes to pet hair (at least not the hair of my two short haired cats). I imagine most hand vacs of this size would do a pretty comparable job. I have a microfiber couch and was really hoping the Pet Hair Eraser would be awesome at getting the hair off of it, but it's just so so. The best strategy I have found so far with the couch is to brush it vigorously with the thin-bristled side of the FURemover duo rubber brush and use the Pet Hair Eraser to suck up the clumps of hair produced by the FURemover brush. This vacuum does practically nothing on the cat hair that is accumulating on the doormat near my front door. It may be that it's better for longer haired animals... I'm just not sure it's worth the cost if you've got short haired kitties that shed everywhere! The tip of the vacuum is also pretty small so you have to make a ton of passes over something to cover any mildly significant sized area of...

Black & Decker 14291600 blender blade cutter.

Substandard Design
I have now had to replace this item three times. The blender claims to be capable of ice crushing for smoothies and margaritas but is not up for the task because of this blade. After very short use the plastic base cracks eventually leaving you with a mess running all over and down the electrical unit. If they had used all steel construction it would have worked much better!

It Works!
Let's be blunt.
Pros:
1 Direct replacement
2 Low price
3 Fast shipping
4 It does the job. My factory blades started leaking and these do not leak.

Cons: The build quality is not the same as the factory part.
1 The color is gray instead of black, I know that doesn't affect the performance but still.
2 The blades were set at a different angle. The factory ones were bent at about a 50 degree angle and the replacement was bent at about a 30 degree angle. This made it a little awkward to get the blades into the pitcher because they are actually set a little bit wider than the opening. Once installed the blades sit high enough from the base that they no longer hit the sides but they are very close, which might cause another problem as you will learn later. The blade material is very good because I tried to bend the blades to the same angle as the factory part and even though they flexed, I could not get them to bend!
3 The blade shaft is...

Replacement Black & Decker blender blade assembly
This is an exact replica of the original blade assembly so it fits perfectly. The base is made of plastic so the original simply got old and stress-cracked near the metal insert causing it to leak. I was very happy to find a direct replacement part and not have to replace the entire blender.

Hoover 40201190 Hoover® Upright Vacuum Cleaner Belts

GREAT REPLACEMENT BELTS. 38528-040
If your ordering belts for a old vacuum, you need to know that the part # for the old hoover belts have been changed from 38528040 to 40201190. These belts are the 38528040. 40201190 is just the new part number. They are the same belts. Hope that helps. I had to do a lot of research to figure that out. Changed my belts and my vacuum was as good as new!

Different part number... works great!
My friend gave me her old vacuum because she said she couldn't get belts for it anymore. I did a little research and had to cross reference information from other vendors to find that the part number is different but they still make the belt (38528-027 = 38528-040). I was blessed that on Amazon I could get a 2 pack (again, a different part number 40201190) for such a great price. Belts work perfectly and vendor provided excellent service!!!

Hoover Replacement Belts
It's kind of difficult to really get excited about reviewing this produce. I mean they are only vacuum cleaner belts! However service was good as well as the product. Recommend highly.

One is now working and when called upon I hope the other two will also. Can you ask for anything more?

Water filters for Fridge
They were the EXACT same as the one from the factory when I bought the fridge. Good price comparison too.

Westinghouse 7787500 Wireless Ceiling Fan and Light Wall Control

Turns one wired switch into a dual switch!
NOTE: THIS IS NOT A FULLY WIRELESS SOLUTION. This unit is intended to replace a single existing wired wall switch. Always remember to turn off the power at the breaker box before installation.

If your house is like mine, then your house was also wired with just one circuit from the wall plate to the ceiling fan. Controlling the ceiling fan and light means flicking the wall switch on, and then pulling the chains hanging down from the fan and light. Not ideal.

With this switch, you can independently control the ceiling fan (four settings are Off-Low-Medium-High) and the fan's light (Off-On) using just one switch. You no longer need an electrician to run a second wire/circuit to run the fan and light independently. For such a need, this product works perfectly.

This Westinghouse product comes with two major components: 1.) A ceiling fan control that you must install inside of the metal cap where the fan meetings the ceiling, and 2.) a switch that...

Westinghouse, probably manufacturer for other brands
I purchased this unit to replace a failing Harbor Breeze wall control that appeared very similar. I suspected they were actually the same product, so far as I can see with the exception of branding, packaging and an information sticker on the switch they are identical. The patent info molded into the back was a direct match even. I made sure the DIP switches matched and then dropped this in as a direct replacement without replacing the receiver unit in the fan, it works flawlessly.

I believe this is an older style fan control as I'm no longer seeing the Harbor Breeze or Hampton Bay (one is carried by Home Depot, the other by Lowes... forget which) branded units of this design in stores. Either Westinghouse is the manufacturer of these and sells them to be rebranded by the store brands or a different party is manufacturing them for all.

Yes, this control is not a "standalone" unit. It requires being wired in line with a load, the fan itself. Attempting to...

Not impressed
Installed the magic box which is very difficult to find a spot for our can still put the dome over. Turned it on and cracked a beer to celebrate. Before I could finish my beer the light shut off and would not come back on. Checked the wires, wiring was fine. Lasted 10 minutes or so. So if you want to pay 3.00 a minute........

Cuisinart Pure Indulgence 2-Quart Automatic Frozen Yogurt, Sorbet, and Ice Cream Maker, Black

Excellent Ice Cream Machine! (With Recipe!)
I had been using a Donvier hand crank machine to make a fat-free ice milk recipe once a week for the last year, and I was perfectly happy with it, but it didn't make enough to last through the entire week, so I decided to spring for a 2 quart electric model. After some serious research, I gave this a try.

If you've ever made a lowfat recipe, you know that homemade ice milk turns into a brick when fully frozen, and the best you can hope for is to scrape off a spoonful at a time. (Or, defrost it for a couple minutes in the microwave, so you can get a spoon into it.) Very tedious. The continual turning action on this machine makes a much lighter, more aerated version of the ice milk, so it CAN be spooned out after being completely frozen! Awesome!

The canister is about the size of a half-gallon carton of ice cream, so you need enough space in your freezer to store it, but the result is worth the effort. It's a bit noisy, but not more so than any other...

Yummy!
This is a fun product! You do need to freeze the bowl before use, so as long as you realize that, you should be good. And my first batch was the Vanilla Bean. It was/is to die for. Had I read the directions THOROUGHLY, I would have seen that this particular recipe requires the custard (which you make from scratch) is to be chilled thoroughly prior to mixing it in the machine. This recipe takes a little time but boy is it worth it!! I am sad that the other guy left a bad review for the machine when his beef was with the company's customer service before even ORDERING it. I like the first guy's idea of buying an extra freezer bowl (if you have the storage space). They include recipes for ritas, gelattos, slushies, floats, sorbet, etc. LOTS of fun!

Almost Too EZ!
This is my 2nd ice cream maker, and i graduated from using Hamilton Beach 68330R 4-Quart Automatic Ice-Cream Maker

This is a wonderful product, because you can just put the canister in the fridge, leave it.. and when you are ready to use it, take it out, pour the ingredients in, and start it up, i normally make a full batch of 2qt and it comes out in 40 mins. I tend to like my ice cream on the softer side, so this makes it just right for me. If you want your ice cream harder, add a little more cream (subtract milk) and it will come out harder.

Clean up is pretty easy if you let it warm up, otherwise, if it's still very cold, after you rinse it, and try to use a paper towel, it will stick to the insides.

So far i've made 3 batches, and they've all come out perfect. I made Vanilla, Strawberry and a Blueberry. I add a cup of fruit at the end (mooshed up first) and they always come out...

Hamilton Beach 40616 Stainless-Steel 12-Cup Electric Percolator

Great Coffee...Until it Stopped Working After About 25 Pots
Before I purchased this coffee pot about a year ago, I read reviews by others who said 'good coffee but lasted only a few months.' I thought to myself...'oh, those people must have been the unlucky few who got bad units...or they emersed the pot and ruined it.' I should have listened to their 'don't buy' pleas, and hope others will listen to my message of warning.

I loved this coffee pot. Rich, strong, hot coffee, and great classic looks. My only complaint was that compared to other percolators I've used, this one is noisy. It makes a loud popping sound while brewing. I never emersed the unit, and was always very careful to avoid letting any water get near the base of the unit when washing it.

I bought this pot a year ago, and used it about twice a MONTH. Yesterday morning, I attempted to make coffee but got only the same 'beige water' that others have reported. Tried again today thinking maybe it was just a fluke, and got a second pot of luke warm 'beige...

Honeymoon is over
After just 4 months of minimal use (Monday mornings only), our attractive Hamilton Beach 12 cup suddenly quit. I should have listened. It produces only weak, warm clear coffee as of yesterday.

Irreconcilable differences. The required $9.95 shipping to return to the manufacturer is an insult. Good bye Hamilton Beach

Very Good Coffee Maker
The Hamilton electric percolator is a well-priced, effecient coffeemaker that looks good in the kitchen as well. I enjoy not having to use paper filters that give a paper taste. The brewing is fast and just the right temperature. Only downside is that the outside becomes very hot.

RoadPro RPBH-012 12V Beverage Heater

Good enough for my purposes
Hot water in my flask doesn't stay hot enough for a whole day out, and this is a good way to bring my tea or coffee up to temperature. I haven't tried heating water from cold - it is always at least warm when I start. It takes several minutes and the wait can be a bit tedious, but it does a good job. The clip which is supposed to hold the heater onto the side of the mug doesn't (it flops about), so I have to hold it to keep it properly immersed. It cools off quickly and is reasonably easy to clean with a small brush.

Modification
This is a good product. I use it in a stainless coffee mug in the car. Sometimes the cigarette lighter plug on the Road Pro will melt if you leave it on too long. Radio shack part number 270-1521 is a much more robust plug. I just crunch the old plug up and cut the metal tabs with the wires soldered to them from the original plug and put them in the holes in the Radio Shack heavy duty plug and it is fixed and lasts forever. I leave the LED connected and it indicates when it is plugged in.

Great gadget. Much better than the plug in mugs that fail quickly.

Suggest you don't buy!
I purchased this item as a gift for my son. He is an over the road truck driver and I thought this would be nice so he could make coffee of a morning. He used it twice and it burned out. It may be that it was just a defective product, but on the other hand at a cost of about $12, it is not worth taking the chance. I would have returned the product, but it may be months before I see him again, and he had already discarded the packaging. My loss could be your gain. Don't buy!

Cuisinart FP-12DC Elite Collection 12-Cup Food Processor, Die Cast

I like it a lot, but not in love.
Let me begin by telling you this processor replaces a 30-year-old original Cuisinart DLC-8. It didn't have a wide feed tube, and had much less power, so I'm not making a comparison with a newer, comparable machine. It's kind of like comparing an economy car to a Mercedes. Also, I got it for a significant discount during a Macy's sale, which is the only reason I bought it. I don't know if I'd pay the regular price for it. Another reviewer liked the limited edition better when spending the big bucks. That said, I'm happy with it, but not as thrilled as I expected to be.

First of all, be forewarned, this baby is BIG. I have a small appliance garage on my counter. My old one fit in there facing front-to-back, with the work bowl attached and the cover inverted. This one is so large I can't face it forward -- the door won't close. So it's in sideways, with the bowls attached, but the cover sits on its side next to it, because with the large feed tube you can't just turn...

The food processor SHOW DOWN: A comparison of 14 cup stainless Cuisinart food processors
Update: cuisinart no longer carries the Limited Edition. However, it periodically gets reintroduced by them. I've been asked to leave my review up based upon it covering the other two and noting things one might consider in comparisons. However this old model of the LE is hard to find now so I wanted to note that up front.

When I buy a new kitchen or household item with lots of competitors I do loads of comparison/contrasting and research first if it's over a hundred bucks...Knowing it was time for a new food processor, I began comparing models. However, I found it a tad difficult to do with all the different blades, codes, etc.

Therefore, once I had completed my own shopping and comparisons, I thought it might be helpful for anyone else in the same situation if I posted my own comparisons here.

I'll start by saying, after all the testing I decided to order the CUISINART LIMITED EDITION Metal (NOT THE ELITE) 14 cup food processor on Amazon. I found it...

Not an improvement...
I've owned various models of Cuisinarts for many years and have always considered them the Cadillac of food processors. Recently I gave away my DLC-2014 model to a relative and upgraded to the FP-14DC, their newest model. I'm beginning to think I may have been too hasty. The most obvious difference between the newer and older model is the design of the workbowl. Cuisinarts have always had straight-sided bowls, but the FP-14DC's bowl is flared -- wider at the top than at the bottom. Presumably the company's engineers determined that the newer design performs better -- or at least as well -- as the older design, but that hasn't been my experience. One problem is that food seems to collect in the seam between the side and bottom of the bowl much more readily than in older models. I used it the other day to chop about two cups of walnuts. When I dumped the chopped nuts out of the bowl, I saw that two or three tablespoons of walnut powder had collected and jammed in the seam. I had to use...
