Hoover Dual V Tank For Hoover V2 SteamVacs

Design Flaw Solved
If you purchased a Hoover V2 or like cleaner (there are many variations of the same machine - I think I actually own one labeled "Maytag" even though it came with a "Hoover" instruction manual) in the somewhat distant past, then it is very likely that you were a victim of the shoddy water tank that used to come with the unit. Mine cracked and became unusable after only two sessions. Having paid nearly $300 for the carpet shampooer (I refuse to call it a "steam" cleaner as there's no steam involved) and realizing that replacement parts were equally likely to fail, I set about using a silicone sealant to "fix" the cracks and render the tank usable again. Despite my best efforts, the tank remained "leaky," but I was nonetheless able to use the machine again (as long as I brought along a towel to "mop up"). I spent two years with my Hoover carpet shampooer in this condition, until I saw this product, which was being sold with the claim that it was an enhanced design.

After...

Works for F7431-900
I LOVE this carpet steamer (purchased from Costco in 9/2006) & was totally bummed when the tank started leaking the cleaning solution & ruined the hardwood floor in my kitchen where I'd parked the machine overnight after a long day of carpet cleaning. I've been looking at carpet steamers for the last year or so, but none have gotten the excellent ratings this one had back in the day. As it turns out, I'd been abusing the tank all these years by filling it with just barely sub-boiling water when cleaning carpets, so I got a lot more years of use than I had any reasonable expectation of receiving from the original tank (I clean all the carpets in the house 3-4 times a year plus periodic spot cleaning of high traffic areas or kitty gerk spots).

To cut to the chase, I was thrilled to find that the replacement tank was available through Amazon more quickly & less expensively than through Hoover online. Thanks to the reviews here, I knew to save the handle from the leaky tank,...

Tank is wonderful - Should have come with original purchase
The tank (water and seperate solution reservoirs) that came with the machine were horrible. I broke the solution reservoir within months of owning the machine. I've been trying to keep it on with packing tape for a few years and wish that I had bought the replacement tank years ago.

Also, the caps for the water and cleaning solution reservoirs are better constructed that the original. If your are still fighting with the old tank, I highly recommend this replacement.
