Don't listen to the whiners!
Ok, so I just got this model Foodsaver for Christmas after asking my mother-in-law for one. I told her the brand, but she chose the model. I was excited after receiving it, until I hopped on Amazon and checked the reviews. After seeing all of the negative comments on how people couldn't get this to work correctly and it wasted bags, I was more than a little disappointed to her choice, and wished she would have bought me the older, flat model that seems to be more user friendly from what the reviews seem to state.
Well, after actually opening the box and using this model, I'm telling you now, "Don't believe the whiners and the bad reviews!" This thing works great! It does exactly what it advertises and I've had absolutely no problems! If you actually READ the directions and follow them, the machine will work perfectly!
I had no problems sealing, vacuuming, creating bags, etc. I have noticed you do have to hold the bag tight while pushing it into the machine...
This is a good machine
First of all, I hesitated to buy this from some of the reviews so let me tell you what my experience is with it. The marinade and the canister procedure works exactly the same way. There is a button called Accessories (I think- I am too lazy to go see what they call it) and this is for the canisters and then there is one for marinade. They are separate not like the other one so do not plug in the canister into the marinade, it will not work. Look at the manual to make sure what button goes with what item. The other thing is there are several lights on the right and they tell you the progress.
The difference is the bags. First, they have a storage for the bags built in and a cutter for it and it is so easy and the best feature of it. No more measuring the bags- the cutter creates a perfect cut. So that is wonderful. There are two things you need to know. It requires more bag than the other, at least right now until I perfect it. You can buy bags on Ebay for pretty...
Run away, fast!
My wife got me this vacuum sealer for Christmas to replace my old one that laid flat on the counter. While these vertical units look good and take up less space, they are not user friendly. The first issue is trying to get the unit to engage. You have to push, slip and slide the end of the bag into the unit to get it to engage (some hanging levers/switches need to be engaged) and if you are lucky enough to get the unit to begin the sealing sequence, don't move! If the bag slips or slides in the slot it will disengage the levers and not seal. The second issue it that my unit often switches from dry to moist on it's own. Additionally, there is no manual operation option and sometimes you do not get a good vacuum so air pockets will remain. Trying to get satisfaction out of Tila through contact is a joke as well. I would have given this a 1/2 star if that was an option!
